History

On March 17, 1974, fifty adults and children called Tim Crater as pastor and started Dunwoody Community Church. The church first met at Vanderlyn Elementary School. In 1978, the church moved to the Gold Kist Building for a short time and in October moved again; this time to the Baptist Campground at Northridge. In November, 1980, a the church moved into its current location on Dunwoody Club Drive.

Dunwoody Community Church exists to develop followers of Jesus Christ who love God, love people and take the gospel to the world. Tim Crater pastored here from 1974 - 1987 and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary. Barry Morrow pastored here from 1987 - 1996 and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary. John Pitt pastored here from 1996 - 1998 and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary. Jim Reiter has been the pastor since 1999 and graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Dunwoody Community Church is an evangelical, nondenominational church that seeks to nurture and encourage Christians as they reach out to a world that is desperately looking for answers to life's questions. The church is committed to the historic, orthodox, Christian faith as set forth in the Bible and seeks to provide a culturally relevant approach to ministry that is sensitive to the attitudes, needs and interests of people. Our worship, teaching, and ministries have a contemporary and casual flavor as we seek to glorify God and effectively minister to people.
